WAYPAY

Payment methods

Nordic customers pay differently in each market. These pages cover how each method works inside a booking or rental flow, what it costs, and how to switch it on.

What the WayPAY checkout takes today

Two methods: card, and MobilePay. Both run through Stripe, and both are available in the booking and rental checkout once payment service is switched on for your account.

Vipps and Swish are not offered. They have pages here because they are the methods Norwegian and Swedish customers ask for, and because a page that tells you plainly that something is unavailable is more useful than no page at all — but neither appears at checkout, and any material suggesting otherwise is out of date.

That gap is worth planning around rather than ignoring. A Norwegian or Swedish customer meeting a card form where they expected their wallet is a real friction point at the moment of payment, and it is the single biggest reason to think carefully before running a prepayment-heavy flow in those two markets.

Why the method matters more in the Nordics

Wallet adoption in Denmark, Norway and Sweden is high enough that the wallet, not the card, is what most people think of as "paying". MobilePay in Denmark, Vipps in Norway and Swish in Sweden each hold that position in their own market, and each is effectively absent from the other two. There is no single Nordic wallet, which is why a payment setup that works in Copenhagen does not automatically work in Oslo.

For a booking business the consequence is concrete. Asking for prepayment is what stops no-shows, but asking for prepayment through a method the customer does not recognise costs you the booking instead. Matching the method to the market is what makes prepayment work.

What it costs and when you get paid

Payment service is optional and priced at 5% of completed payments for every customer. The core booking, rental and Direct POS modules cost DKK 0 per month, so if you take bookings without collecting money you are not charged.

Money moves through your own Stripe connected account. Onboarding is Stripe's — it asks for the business details and identity documents it needs before enabling charges — and payouts arrive on a per-customer delay, 14 days by default, which covers the refund and dispute window on prepaid bookings.
