MobilePay is the most widely used payment method in Denmark, and asking a customer to type a card number is a common reason a prepaid booking is abandoned. When a business has WayPAY payment service active, the booking and rental checkout offers MobilePay next to card payment. Both run through the business's connected Stripe account, and WayPAY records the resulting payment and booking or rental status the same way for either method.
Can customers pay with MobilePay in WayPAY?
Yes. The WayPAY booking and rental checkout presents MobilePay alongside card payment when the business has payment service active with a connected Stripe account.
What does a business need to do to enable MobilePay?
Complete WayPAY payment onboarding so the business has a connected Stripe account with charges enabled. MobilePay is then offered at checkout automatically — there is no separate setting to switch on in WayPAY.
Does MobilePay work for prepaid bookings?
Yes. Prepayment is the main reason to offer it: MobilePay is faster to complete on a phone than entering card details, which reduces abandoned checkouts and no-shows.
Are there cases where MobilePay is not offered?
Yes. A free trial is taken as an authorisation hold rather than an immediate charge, and Stripe does not support holding and capturing a MobilePay payment separately. Those checkouts are card-only. Standard bookings and rentals are charged immediately and offer both.
What does MobilePay cost through WayPAY?
WayPAY has a 5% fee on successful platform payments, the same rate for all customers and the same for MobilePay as for card. Stripe and other payment providers can charge additional fees.
Which currency are MobilePay payments taken in?
Danish kroner. WayPAY onboards Danish businesses and the checkout settles in DKK.
